THIS STORY BEGINS WITH A MAN FROM MEGHALAYA. FROM THE GARO HILLS WHO WORKED WITH COFFEE GROWERS IN THE VILLAGES OF WARIBOK & DARIBOK AMONG OTHERS, IN THE NOKREK NATIONAL RESERVE FOREST.

 

THIS MAN DECIDED TO MOVE TO THE PAZHANI HILLS IN  TAMIL NADU. COFFEE HAS BEEN TRADITIONALLY GROWN IN THIS AREA, AMIDST THE BEAUTIFUL FLORA OF FRUIT & FLOWERING TREES, DIVERSE FAUNA & HIGH ALTITUDE.

THE IDEA WAS TO BRING THE COMMUNITY OF COFFEE GROWERS TOGETHER. SO THEY COULD COLLECTIVELY IMPROVE THEIR FARMING METHODS AS WELL AS THEIR PROCESSING TECHNIQUES. THIS IS NO SMALL FEAT WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE ELEVATION OF 1500 METRES+ ABOVE SEA LEVEL. HUMIDITY & RUST ARE JUST SOME OF THE NATURAL CHALLENGES TO DEAL WITH.

 

UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF SOUMYAJIT ROY, THE COLLECTIVE HAS COME TOGETHER - PROJECT PAZHANI 80+. A COLLECTIVE THAT SHARES RESOURCES & KNOWLEDGE TO GIVE US SPECIALITY COFFEE BEANS THAT PROUDLY SITS IN THE

SHG CATEGORY* (STRICTLY HIGH GROWN).
 

*SHG COFFEES ARE THOSE GROWN AT AN ELEVATION OF OVER 1400 METRES / 4000 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL.
 

THE LOT THAT WE HAVE FROM THE 2020 HARVEST IS A VARIETAL CALLED SLN5B. A VARIETAL THAT ORIGINATED IN FAR AWAY AFRICA AND FOUND ITS HOME IN THE HILLS OF TAMIL NADU. MUCH LIKE THE MAN BEHIND THIS COLLECTIVE. :)

WE GIVE YOU THE PROJECT PAZHANI COFFEE BLEND AS AN OMNI ROAST. JUST AS THE COLLECTIVE INCLUDES ALL THE GROWERS & BRINGS THEM TOGETHER, THIS COFFEE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE BREWED IN A MULTITUDE OF WAYS.
